Open Enrollment

The State of Maryland provides a generous benefit package to eligible employees and retirees with a wide range of benefit options from healthcare to income protection. Here’s what’s new for 2027.

• Online benefits enrollment is mandatory for active and contractual employees who wish to make or change benefit elections for plan year 2027.
• Eligible employees may add domestic partners (same or opposite sex) and child(ren) of their domestic partner to benefit plans.
  • Eligible benefits include medical, prescription drug, dental and life insurance. 
  • Flexible Spending Account funds may not be applied to domestic partners and their child(ren).

• Flexible Spending Accounts require annual enrollment.
  • Healthcare FSA annual amount has increased to $3,400.
    • Healthcare funds may be used for employees and their eligible family members
  • Dependent Daycare FSA annual amount is $7,500.
    • Dependent care funds may be used for daycare expenses for dependents under the age of 13
• Medicare-eligible retirees and eligible dependents must enroll in, or continue, a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan to have prescription coverage in 2027. Visit Via Benefits  for more information and assistance with selecting and enrolling in a Medicare Part D plan through Via Benefits.
• Access to flu shots and COVID vaccines are available at most pharmacies nationwide – $0 copay.
